Why are you running for RCC Board of Trustees?
I care about the youth and young adults of our community and giving them access to an affordable, well-balanced, and robust education. A community college education in Macon County needs to provide a pathway to learn life skills and good paying jobs - whether it is with the Building Trades or pursuing a college degree.
My time in public service and my career experiences supporting the Green Economy can lend some guidance in these areas and identify additional resources to help achieve our objectives.
Do you have any specific policy goals?
I want to learn what is working well with the students, faculty, and staff and grow that success. It is important to raise the profile of RCC so everyone in the community is aware of its great resource and can take full advantage of it.
I also want to take a deep dive into the strategic plan that RCC developed to determine how I can add value with my background in clean energy and transportation; environmental stewardship; and building public-private partnerships, specifically with educational institutions and the Building Trades on workforce development.
I want our students to be exposed to the latest technological developments - to assure that RCC continues to grow and develop as a leading, state-of-the-art institution.
