Campaign Platform
Written by Reed Sutman on Jan 24, 2023Gina Taylor is focused on diversity and black representation. She wants more black & brown kids to attend Maroa Forsyth schools, saying there are black families in the district that send their kids to Decatur Schools, missing out on the resources & college prep of Maroa Forsyth Schools.
She says the problem is that black & brown kids "feel like they don't belong. There's nobody there that looks like them. There's nobody there that understands them." She talks about her kids and grandkids attending Forsyth Schools and being the only black kids there.
She currently has no specific budget or policy goals, but calls to attention issues regarding classroom size & getting kids to after-school programs. She says there are frequent drug searches and that Maroa Forsyth students have many of the same issues Decatur students have, but that they have the staffing to help with those issues.
