Datrice Weathers for School Board 2023

Datrice Weathers widthdrew her candidacy for Decatur School Board (DPS61) in the 2023 Decatur Election. She will still show on the ballot, because she withdrew after ballot certifications, but votes for her will not be counted in official results.

Datrice withdrew her candidacy

Datrice Weathers's primary campaign promise is to bring community engagement to the board, not just the public speaking at meetings, but being "out and about as a representative of the board" to "understand what [community members'] concerns are" and explain "in layman's terms what the board does and the importance of having engagement."

Engage the community in School Board decisions
Be out & about in the community talking with parents & families
Address the disconnect between the School Board and those affected by School Board Decisions (teachers, administrators, and families)
"When it comes to policies and budgets, there's a lot that I need to learn there. That is not particularly my strength. But my strength is making sure that the community is involved in what is taking place and that they have an understanding."

Datrice Weathers is endorsed by Will Wetzel, another School Board candidate.
