A message from the Acting Chief of Police regarding the events from Memphis: The men and women of the Decatur Police Department are better than that. We have to be. We have worked hard to build a trust in the community, and for that we will not fail. We appreciate and respect our community. The images from Memphis are troubling and unacceptable. Those images in no way reflect the hard work and dedication of the thousands of good officers that serve their communities every day with integrity and honor. The involved officers were swiftly removed from service and arrested. We must all now place our trust in the justice system. Please remember this in the days ahead as you reflect on the events of Memphis and process your own emotions. We appreciate and value all of you. Thank You again for your support.
