What is a 'Story'?

You'll notice on some pages, under the headline, it'll say 'Story compiled by [author name]....'. These 'stories' are intended to be an all-encompassing compilation of other writing, sources, history, and other information about a broader story.

For example, a 'Cannabis Dispensaries in Decatur' story should include a summary of the current state of cannabis dispensaries in Decatur. Additionally, it should include links to articles that cover the original decision, voted on in 2019, and the re-affirmed position written about in 2021. It should also include links to sources, such as video of the 2019 council meeting, meeting minutes, and any ordinance on file regarding cannabis dispensaries. It would likely include several other links as well.

These 'stories' are distinct from an 'article' which may read 'Original Report by [author]...' or 'Fact Check by [author]...'. Those articles are one-off pieces written at a particular point-in-time that often will only cover a smaller portion of a broader story.
