County Board Districts
Before 2022, the Macon County board had 7 districts with three members per district (21 members total). There was a controversial redistricting in which a Republican majority passed the new district map for Macon County, reducing the county to 5 districts & 15 County Board members total (still 3 per district). Redistricting is done every ten years, after the U.S. Census.
Local Democrats had also proposed a redistricting map. Republican County Clerk Josh Tanner had also proposed a redistricting map which was different from the maps proposed by the Republican County Board Members. Democrats were in favor of passing Tanner's map, but Republicans unanimously agreed to pass the Republican Board Members' version of the map.
