Will Wetzel shared his endorsements and listed AFSCME. I contacted AFSCME Local 31 to ask about their candidate endorsements, and was told they did not endorse any Decatur candidates.
I asked Will Wetzel which AFSCME endorsed him and if he could provide proof, and he said "AFSCME 73 I do believe. It covers the Janitorial and Maintenance Staff for the district."
In separate messages, he wrote that he was "handed a list by DPACE", and "That's where I got my informaiton. [sic]"
DPACE is Decatur Political Action Committee for Education. Will says AFSCME 73, Decatur Education Association (DEA), and Decatur Educational Support Personnel Association (DESPA) are part of "a conglomeration of unions" that use DPACE "to do all of their political stuff."
We were unable to promptly find a contact for DPACE or AFSCME 73, so have not confirmed these endorsements with either group.
